Day 13 - Beynac-et-Cazenac

At 3am Sunday morning we were awakened by a thunderstorm - we had already lost our good weather. This was the day we had planned to canoe the Dordogne River.  After rising quite late Dusty went for milk and croissant for breakfast, then we had another thunderstorm. It rained on and off all day. Eventually Dusty got quite frustrated and went to see Sarlat, where he experienced yet another severe thunderstorm. Even with a raincoat on he ended up getting fairly soaked.  Sarlat was not terribly impressive, but the rain didn’t help any. At this point Dusty gave up trying to accomplish anything and went back to the hotel and took another nap. We watched the Tour de France and Boomerang cartoons on TV – they showed a lot of Roadrunner and Pink Panther cartoons, I suspect because they have no voices and require almost no translation effort. That night we treated ourselves to a fine dinner downstairs at our restaurant – Dusty got the menu with
garlic soup, cêpe mushroom omelet, seafood stew which was more of a plate than a stew, cheese plate, and desert. It was fantastic.  It turned out to be by far the best meal we had in France.
