In the off season they only change the guards at Buckingham Palace every two days.
Since Tuesday was very rainy, we planned to see the ceremony Thursday morning.
We arrived just in time to get spots at the fence at about 10:30 or so.
While the ceremony starts at 11, nothing really happens until 11:30.

We had lunch at St James Park but apparently we didn't take any pictures...

After lunch we saw the Horse Guards, since we hadn't all been here on Sunday to see them.





After the Horse Guards we saw Westminster Abbey, which was well worth the price of admission.
Unfortunately they don't let you take any pictures in the Abbey.

The gold around the clock on the Elizabeth Tower (popularly known as Big Ben, which is actually the name of the bell in the tower) was shining in the sun but unfortunately the picture doesn't show it very well.

Karin, Bob, Kathy, and Dusty went for dinner in Chinatown.
Unfortunately we were early and most places weren't open yet.
We had dim sim at the Jen Cafe.

Later Kathy and Cindy shopped for a Rugby jersey at Covent Garden
We got to see several Rugby matches on the telly since the Rugby World Cup was being hosted in London while we were in town.

We saw an excellent street string quartet at Covent Garden
I could never figure out how she carried that cello like it was nothing...

The younger crowd went to the nearby BlackFriar, arriving just before it (and nearly every other pub in London) shut down at 11pm.
The bartender explained that pub licenses all require the pubs to shut down at 11, except for the very few pubs that pay the huge additional expense for a license to stay open until 3am.
