And so we started to drive away from the Many Glacier Hotel, disappointed that we hadn't seen a moose up close on this trip.

and just a few minutes later, standing in the creek very close to the road, we saw mama and baby moose

Our view was partially blocked by trees and campers.
I took video and pictures from the car for a minute, then ran ahead on the road to get a less obstructed view of the mooses.
Mama and baby then came my way.
I was probably closer than I was supposed to be, but that was their fault, so I wasn't moving until she ran me over.
I was amazed how big a moose is.
Baby moose was easily 5'-6' high... Mama moose was closer to 7' or 8'.
Un-real.

That evening we stayed at the the Timberline Lodge on Mt Hood on the way home.
The exterior of the Timberline was featured in The Shining in a very few shots.
