The trail on the north shore of Garnet Lake is rocky with a sheer short drop into the water.
I took this trail around the point for about 5 minutes to a get clear view of Banner Peak and Mount Ritter.

Looking northeast, in the direction we came around the lake last evening.
this is east of our campsites, just past where we got water, down pasts two other tents that both had a single women backpacker.
Jed apologized to one of them for camping close to them.
She said it was not a problem, we were plenty far away from her.
She said on the PCT people would be dragging in at midnight and camping right next to each other.

I spent nearly an hour taking pictures... then finally had to eat and break camp.
My panos aren't as good as I'd like because they looked washed out with poor detail compared to the pictures I took with the canon.
We got a late start after all the picture taking, but this was why I was here.

We decided to camp near Rush Creek since that's one of the last campsites on our map before Donohue Pass.
We'd take it easier today and hike all the way out tomorrow.

We looked where the map told us there's a good campsite near Marie Lake Trailhead, but we weren't terribly pleased with the spots we found.
We kept looking another few minutes up the trail until we saw a perfect spot next to its own small stream.
This place was fantastic...

another party of three guys looked around for a spot near ours perhaps an hour after we arrived, but they didn't end up camping within sight of us.
we heard campers around the bend at the stream crossing while we at the stream, but we only saw a few hikers walk once we set up camp - no one camped around us.
this was an excellent campsite!
