Booze train to Denali
Wednesday we had to leave the Sheraton and check into the Westmark.
The Westmark is owned by Holland America, but ironically some Holland
America guests stayed in our Sheraton that night.
This unfortunately meant we'd be homeless for a while waiting for our
new room in our new hotel.
The Anchorage weather continued to be pretty overcast, and Kathy and I
were pretty done with it..

I walked down to the train station.
Tomorrow I was supposed to get on a bus to ride the 7 minute walk down
to the train station.
I dreaded getting on a bus for a 7 minute walk.
Bob and Karin flew in that afternoon.
Dusty dropped off the rental car, then met Bob and Karin, then we all
came back to the Westmark on the bus.
The room at the Westmark was dated but huge.

Paul: Ray, back on the Italy trip you sent a picture of the Volterra
countryside from an overlook
Paul: I just ran across that same picture from that same overlook in
2009- except we were just about to get pounded by a rain squall.....

Ray: Looks like a monsoon storm! I didn't go in the town's interior -
how was that? Rainy, I guess!

Paul: It was quite cool-

Ray: it was certainly nothing remotely like cool when I was there

Paul: They had just finished shooting one of those Twilight
movies in Volterra when we were there
Paul: The movie had not been released yet, but they were planning for
massive movie tourism after the release
Paul: It was a great town, and not super touristy, so hopefully that
movie did not change that
