Ray: Its nickname is the "Lightning Rod Of the Cascades," so I want an
early start

Kent: That will be exciting! Most people bail at "chicken
ledge" right before the top

Ray: I'm not too proud to chicken out if it's sketch, but from what
I've researched of it, I think it should be ok
Ray: Rock quality is not supposed to be perfect, so..
Ray: Just making it to the chicken ledge would be good, and apparently
the trail has lots of exposure

Ray: Now hiking for 40 minutes, fairly easy so far
Ray: That's gonna change
Ray: But weather expected and looks like it will be ideal today, so if
my legs hold out, I should make it
Ray: It may even be warm, which would be good for me and my excessive
amount of water I have packed

Ray: I cruised chicken section in my climbing shoes, so I had to back and do crux in my boots
Ray: This summit has a dropoff in same ballpark as Half Dome
Ray: Way cool
Ray: Was on summit at 10:27, so just over 3 hours
Ray: Will be much faster going down the scree and talus than it was going up

Paul: Continuing on the temp topic, I heard PHX set a record for most days over 110 in a row this year?
I looked up the forecast and it looks like you guys have a short
respite with highs in the 90s, and then it shoots back up to the 110s
at the end of next week
Paul: I forget what is "normal" in PHX having been away now for 20 years?

Ray: It's been a hot summer with some records broken, and monsoon barely touched Phoenix
Ray: But people forget already how phenom the spring was
Ray: The warming trend has helped with my vacay - isn't it supposed to rain in this part of the country?
