Dusty: Saw some lovely Alps and glaciers on our flight to Roma, i was
disappointed that I couldn't figure out where we were..
Dusty: i saw lakes that were not Geneva just north of some nice
glaciated alps, i think it was the Interlaken area...

Paul: He's the dad of the other family we were in Italy with for the
2nd half of our trip

Dusty: We have 745am breakfast at the Vatican museum tomorrow; had to
buy the breakfast package at twice the price cause museum tickets alone
were already sold out..
Dusty: that's early for Rob..
Dusty: not sure I've seen him have a drink yet on this trip..

debauchery

Dusty: Paris was nice and our location was great for walking to sites,
however it was a 10 minute walk to any restaurants or quicky marts, and
I only saw 2 atms in 4 days of wandering
Dusty: Not as convenient as I expected
Dusty: As soon as our taxi left the airport in Rome and I saw the
weeds and graffiti and filth and grit of Italy I felt much more at
home...

Paul: I stayed at 4 different places during my recent COvID extended
tour of Rome
Paul: I feel like I know the city extremely well now
Paul: I didn't even need to check my phone gps unless I wandered way
the hell out to the outskirts

Dusty: Rob has my (reasonably good) sense of direction but has only
been here twice in 2012 and 2003, he vaguely remembers places
Dusty: Kathy and CJ have zero sense of direction, Kathy didn't
remember the gelato place we've been to at least 5 times between both
trips (Rick's favorite Giolitti) ..
Dusty: I found it without a map.

Dusty: Air conditioning in out hotel here actually works as an American
would expect; Paris hotel was typical European ac that pretends to work

Ray: Best ac in Italy in 2017 was at the Rex Lifestyle Hotel in Naples

Paul: The neighbors that we were traveling with, by chance, booked the
Hotel Alberto Del Sol for their last night
Paul: That hotel also owns the building directly across from the
Pantheon - right behind Dusty's lunch spot
Paul: They got a room with a patio overlooking the Pantheon
Paul: The terrace and view were pretty amazing
Paul: Here's an internet pic from that terrace - I don't have a pic on
my phone

Ray: That place did not have good ac! But the view is amazing.

Ray: When you stay there you feel like the Pantheon is yours and
everyone else is a tourist.
