I've somehow been to Saas Fee four times, but never been to Hohsaas.
Fixing that was one of my primary goals for this trip.

By the time we got to the top of Hohsaas, high clouds were forming in
addition to the clouds at the mountain tops...

Lost the sun by about 10am, high clouds over nearly all the Saas
valley...
Rest day for Ray today.
I did nothing yesterday other than stay warm outdoors in alpine temps
while he climbed, toblerone for the win.
I considered hiking down from lift to Weissmeisshut today but that
looks like work.
Lagginhorn has way too much snow (normal route is a rock ridge climb
with zero or close to zero snow under ideal conditions)
Ray was told
conditions have been dangerous for a few weeks, a big rescue up there
recently, even experienced mountaineers getting into trouble.

Since I don't have any idea when I'll get back to Saas Fee, I spent
part of the afternoon shopping for hats and went a little crazy, ending
up with five increasingly gorgeous Saas Fee hats.
I let Ray pick one out for himself.
Now I had a hat collection to carry around :)

I have a new plan based on latest weather - Tuesday (tomorrow) I go to
Grindelwald for 1 night, just booked last "cheap" (175chf double w
balcony and view) room on booking.com
anywhere nearby other than a hostel.... Supposed to rain tomorrow night
in the Bernese Alps,
Wednesday lift then 4-1/2h hike up to Schreckhornhütte, half board
Wednesday night, hike back down from hut Thursday.
Looks like maybe weather in the alps may get gorgeouser starting
Wednesday morning.
I have no firm plans after Schreckhornhütte other than see more
glaciers
before i fly back from Zurich next Tuesday....
