Highline Trail

Tuesday we had to move to the Many Glacier Hotel, so it was the natural day for the family to hike the Hidden Lake trail for the fourth time -
I hiked it alone on our first trip to Glacier in 2006 because no one else would come with me, and I brought back tales of mountain goat families close enough to the trail you could pet them.
When we returned to Glacier for our second visit in 2008 everyone hiked up Hidden Lake trail, and we all saw mountain goats
Our third and fourth visits to Hidden Lake Trail in 2010 and 2016 were just .
see pictures of the family at Hiden Lake in 2019, 2016, and 2008 below.

Robby and I saw the parking lot at Logan Pass getting full shortly after we arrived at 730am yesterday.
We managed to find a parking space at the packed full Logan Pass lot within 5 minutes because we are very experienced at watching people return to their cars, following them, then aggressively chasing off every else who thinks its they're turn (its not, we followed the hikers and we're now in position to take their spot).
It is still quite stressful, most people spend 20-30 minutes or longer looking and it seems there are always hurt feelings when someone gets a spot.

On our way up to the overlook we saw a few mountain goats in the distance, but didn't see any up close.
We started back down the trail
After a few minutes I realized that I had neglected to take a 360 panoramic picture with my Insta360, so I went ran to the overlook...
and noticed everyone following a pair of mountain goats near the trail.

I took pictures and video for perhaps 20 minutes.
Finally I quit taking pictures and started back down the trail.

A mama and baby goat keeping out of the hot sun.
The rest of the family stayed with these two for quite a while waiting for me to catch up before finally giving up and heading down the mountain.

We were originally going to eat lunch in the parking lot, then realized this would be really selfish since everyone wanted those spots.
We drove a little way down "The Shining" east side of Logan Pass and had lunch in a gorgeous pullout instead.

That afternoon CJ and I discovered the Huckleberry Margarita
Spotted Bear Distilling Organic Agave Spirit, Citrus Simple Syrup, Huckleberry Liqueur, Fresh Lime Juice
They are very smooth, sweet and refreshing.
When I got home and attempted to recreate the drink I was forced to substitute rasberry liqueur for huckeberry.
My attempt is drinkable but not as good as the original.

One of our two adjoining rooms.
We didn't have lake front views the first few nights, which was fine because those rooms are at least another $50 / night.
Kathy and I would need to move lakeside room the last two nights because that's all I could get us.
