Robby agreed to carry the bearbox if I carried the tent.
Backpacking is much more pleasant when your pack is several pounds lighter than normal.

There were a few people on the trail, but socially distancing was not a problem.

Largest fungus I've ever seen.
My hiking pole is there to show the size of this thing.

In about two short hours of pretty easy hiking we arrived at Dewey Point.
I'm on the point looking south.
I'd seen pictures online of folks camped out on the point, so I didn't hesitate to take that spot once I realized noone else was on it.
Shortly after I set up our tent a solo camper asked if he could set up near us.
It was a little close for comfort but what could I say?

The view was even better than I'd imagined.
Once we got the tent set up we just started starring at the scenery.

View from Dewey Point.
Robby brought binoculars to watch climbers on El Cap, but we were too far to see very much.

14:27 California time
Dusty: We snagged the campsite right on the Point

14:33 California time
Paul: Is that Rob? Does not look like him at all
Paul: Particularly with a leather ballcap?

14:35 California time
Dusty: We're about a mile from the nearest water i think, backtracking
Dusty:   With luck we'll only need to refill once tomorrow
Dusty:  I was afraid I'd get bored eventually, but I don't think I will ever get tired of this view
Dusty:   About 10 people here now, we saw another 10 or so on the trail in, but so far we're the only backpackers planning on spending the night here
Dusty:  Robby brought binoculars to look for climbers on El Cap..
Dusty: he also brought some whiskey..
Dusty: i have 2 ipas, I should have brought more cause it was an easy hike, 4 miles in full packs in 2h
Dusty:  No mosquitoes or mud
Dusty:  That is Robby, he has his Grandpa's beard..
Dusty: and a mask around his neck
Dusty:  he and I probably haven't shaved on a week, he has a nice start on a full beard, i got nothin.

14:37 California time
Paul: Only 2 beers on a hike? For shame

14:38 California time
Dusty: Robby has the bear box and his gear, i have the tent
Dusty:  I almost didn't bring any beer, I remember feeling like an idiot carrying beer all over the jmt with Kent and Jed.

15:06 California time
Kent: That's cool Dusty!  I descended from the gunsight in your picture to the valley
Kent:  It's between you and the captain
Kent:  Can see where I traversed around lower cathedral to get to it too
Kent:  Neat to see from your perspective!

15:10 California time
Kent: You felt like an idiot for carrying beer on a hike...
Kent:  lost a point in that one....

15:13 California time
Paul: Dusty
Paul: Aim your photos higher
Paul: You've almost got something other than sky in the frame

15:14 California time
Ray: What a scenic campsite! Very nice
Ray: It just got done raining here
Ray: Lots of big thunder
Ray: I may get a jog in now
Ray: Had to work for part of the day..
Ray: More fun.

15:15 California time
Kent: Love the smell of the forest after rain in flagstaff

15:15 California time
Dusty: Specifically, i carried too many (4 total) beers for too many miles..

15:17 California time
Paul: Did you dunk your 6 lbs of gummy bears in your 4 beers?

15:34 California time
Ray: You could carry more beer if you got rid of one of your 4 two-liter bottles of water
Ray: Just sayin'.

I set up the canon on the tripod for a selfie

Kent's pic

16:20 California time
Dusty: Kent did you descend the notch in front of the Nose, or the valley in the bottom left corner?  The valley looks doable, the notch looks like a cliff...

18:08 California time
Kent:  The notch is the descent
Kent:  Everywhere else is a huge cliff
Kent:  The notch is full blown class 4 Yosemite
Kent:  I hear there are now fixed ropes there
Kent:  It's used for descent for a lot of climbs
Kent:  My understanding the stone masters used to love the swimming holes at the top of bridalviel and those are accessed from climbing the gunsight from the valley then descending into the valley closer to you from it
Kent:  It almost looks like you could hike to the gunsight and go down to valley that way from your location
Kent:  (Class 4+ in the gunsight)
Kent: My climb up overhang bypass  was for me a great adventure

18:08 California time
Kent: The summit I got was lower cathedral

Kent:  (Top of white line)

18:08 California time
Kent: Take note of the gunsight when driving the loop in the valley
Kent:  It's one of those features that's cool to recognize from the bottom.

18:12 California time
Kent: I think valley in bottom left of picture is top of bridalveil falls

18:22 California time
Dusty: Bridelveil is about 2 miles further east, behind the cathedral(?) that has the end of the words gunsight direct in your markup
Dusty:  We drove past it of course, but the entire lot is closed for construction.

18:25 California time
Dusty: Nope, just checked my topo, you are correct

18:33 California time
Kent:  Check how steep the leaning tower is!!!!  And top of climbing part

19:08 California time
Dusty: There's over 15 people camping on or near the point...
Dusty: we of course have the prime spot..
Dusty: some solo clown set up his tent about 30' from us....lots of others just past him....

20:55 California time
Dusty: Clown next to us was reading the fine manual for his brand new jetboil..
Dusty: he's clearly never used any of this gear..
Dusty: he left the jetboil loosely attached to the msr cause he heard gas ..
Dusty: then he lit it, massive flame, singed fingers..
Dusty: we're giving him instructions now that he's asked for help..
Dusty: good times!

We had two couples start to cook dinner 10' from our tent (for the view only) starting around 930pm when I was trying to fall asleep, that seemed a little extreme
