El Granada to Dewey Point
I applied for two backcountry permits for July 4th weekend.
My first choice on the permit was Porcupine Creek where I've camped a
few times before.
My second choice on the permit was Tenaya Lake.
My third choice was McGurk Meadow, a meadow about a mile north of Glacier Point road.
I figured McGurk Meadow was near the Valley, perhaps there'd be a way to see the Valley from there...
I got McGurk Meadow, my third choice.
Initially I wasn't too excited, then I realized this trailhead is only about 4 miles from Dewey Point.
Then I looked up Dewey Point and saw the amazing views online, and then I got excited.
I had to buy a new battery for my Celica the day before we left for
Yosemite, it has done almost nothing other than sit in my garage since
covid started..
This is likely to be the only time i get to drive it anywhere for months...
